“Grease” in Ilo, Peru —Excerpts

Ilo, Peru  has very little outside entertainment – no movie theatres, no concert halls – but there are several venues for local and regional performers, and admission is usually free. on Friday, October 18, 2013, a group of talented and enthusiastic kids put on a rousing production fo grease in the amphitheatre by the sea. this is a 16 minute edit of what i filmed from that performance. The parents have cause to be proud of their kids here, and my friends from the United States may be surprised at the verve and skill of these Peruvian kids in their interpretation of a gringo classic.

      1. I was quite the thespian in high school. President and everything. My big shot was Jo in Little Women. Otherwise, I sang in the chorus (I’m a tenor!) and built the sets, ran the lights, and was stage manager. Fond memories.
